Our Mission.
Campus Tactical’s mission is to advise, train, and equip public and private sector organizations in the practices and tactics necessary to deter and defeat asymmetrical threats to their organization.
-
Increase Safety.
When students or employees visit your campus, you are entrusted with their safety. Understanding how to guard against acts of violence is not standard knowledge to the majority of executives. When the stakes are high and failure is measured in lost lives, your organization cannot afford anything less than comprehensive and experienced guidance to ensure you have the correct plan and tactics in place.
-
Reduce Liability.
Executive decision makers who choose to exceed requirements to ensure the safety of those on their campus are leaders, and leaders surround themselves with other leaders. A cohesive plan built with a group of tier one tacticians is both a response and a deterrent to a possible attack. Having a Campus Tactical plan in place demonstrates to any reasonable adjudicator that you have taken extraordinary measures to ensure the health, safety and welfare of third parties entrusted to your care by their mere presence on your campus.
-
Maintain Compliance.
Keeping up with the standards of private and public sector compliance can be the difference in whether or not your organization can receive funding or secure contracts. Campus Tactical works closely with your organization to ensure it is functioning in full compliance with promulgated standards and typically well beyond.
Services.
Our training philosophy is that exceptional training should be available to anyone who has taken an oath to protect regardless of departmental budgets. Some of our more advanced tactical trainings are instructed by current and former tier one military and law enforcement tacticians. While local policies should always dictate a tactical response, Campus Tactical’s training is geared towards taking aggressive action with limited resources.
Firearms training consists of classroom, live fire, and red on blue training with simunitions rounds. Scenarios are based on a first on scene response, which in most cases is limited to one or two resource or security officers. Training levels range from zero (beginner) for staff who are permitted to carry a firearm all the way to SWAT.
Hand-to-hand combat training is geared towards weapons take-aways and restraining holds. We train in the simple and effective practices of Krav Maga and Jiu-Jitsu. This training is ideal both for trained security professionals to brush up as well as for faculty and staff who may be first to encounter a threat.
Tactical.
Difference.
Today’s domestic threats, like their international counterparts, are asymmetrical. Campus Tactical approaches security and response training to today’s threats accordingly and with the best of the knowledge that our tier one military operators and law enforcement tacticians have written in blood for decades.
For decades the acts of violence in the workplace and schools have evolved. In the decades since Columbine, when only 24% of the US population was online, the digital age provides even the most unskilled attackers with significantly more knowledge of weapons and tactics, as well as a detailed awareness of response plans, whether by research or from having been trained by the organization they are attacking.
Over the course of nearly the same timeframe, the United States’ military has been fighting a multi-front, asymmetrical war against sub-state combatants who blend into civilian populations, attack where there is the most vulnerability, and inflict considerable damage with minimal resources. Aside from firsthand experience, attackers are typically armed with training that is often virtual and via open source mediums. Similarly, on the domestic front, our nation’s tier one law enforcement community (federal and local tactical team/SWAT members) have been responding and learning from the evolution of threats being carried out by persons who nearly mimic the profile or our nation’s international enemies in methodology and tactics. Responding to these threats at home and abroad has transformed the tactics and abilities of our military and law enforcement communities. The fight has changed, and Campus Tactical is here to share its knowledge with you.
Texas Mandate.
After the Uvalde tragedy, Governor Greg Abbott called for an immediate school safety review of Texas Public Schools. The Governor sent a letter to Dr. Kathy Martinez-Prather directing the Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC) to begin immediately conducting comprehensive school safety reviews to ensure all Texas public schools are following the appropriate procedures to maximize school safety.
The specific requirements from the letter are the following:
Ensure their School Safety and Security Committee meets to review their Emergency Operations Plan and address any campus safety needs. This includes reviewing their Active Threat plan.
Ensure the School Behavioral Threat Assessment Team is trained and has reviewed procedures for each campus.
Ensure that all staff and substitutes are trained on their specific district and campus safety procedures and that all drills are scheduled before the start of the next school year.
Conduct an assessment of their access control procedures, such as single access points, locked instruction room doors, visitor check-in procedures, exterior door locks, etc.
Complete these efforts by September 1, 2022, and certify this data to the TxSSC by September 9, 2022.
